Candied is a family run business with four sites based in Grangemouth, Rumford, Denny and Stenhousemuir. They are the 2019 Scottish Takeaway Awards Dessert Takeaway Business of the Year and the 2020/21 Prestige Award Parlour of the Year winner – what an achievement! What’s more, 20p from every slush or ice blast that Candied sell goes directly to Strathcarron Hospice charity.

Our team headed to Candied to speak with Amrit, the Managing Director, to explore his hungrrr experience and how it has benefitted his booming business.

How long have you used hungrrr and what do you use it for?

Our business has been using hungrrr for 4 and a half years now - since the business started. We use it for collection orders but also for delivering food to customer’s homes via the app.

What are the business benefits of using hungrrr?

We've found hungrrr to be a really helpful tool. It's allowed our customers to order easily and efficiently, pay securely and to see our entire menu with images. We can also send push notifications to their phone for any new products, there's been a huge variety of options and advantages for our customers using the app.

What type of customer do you serve?

Our customer demographic ranges all the way from small toddlers, who want to come in for an ice cream with a grandparent, all the way up to the grandparents and everybody in between. However, our main core demographic is about 16 to 25, which is why our app is so important and critical to our business - we all know the amount of phone usage that that demographic have in their daily lives.

What advice would you give to another business thinking of signing up with hungrrr?

It's something that they want it gives them access to our products in the way that lets them interact with our business.

Certainly in hospitality or retail industry, it's a really critical tool to have and it's something that our customers need.

The days of picking up the phone for our businesses are certainly redundant now. I don't want to be tying up a member of staff for 10 or 15 minutes taking a phone order when our customers can jump online and do it at their leisure, at the pace that they're comfortable with, rather than someone on the phone. It just makes their life so much easier - they can pay securely and the food's there without even having to talk to anyone, which a lot of our customers like.
